Refrigerant Pressure Gauge

There are two types of pressure gauge, namely:

1. Technical pressure gauge

2. Absolute pressure gauge

How to distinguish technical pressure gauge and absolute pressure gauge is very easy, namely:

Simply put if the pressure gauge connection is open to the atmosphere and shows the value "0" then this gauge is a type of technical pressure gauge but if it shows a value of "1,013 bar / 14.7 psi" then the gauge This is a type of absolute pressure gauge.

Note: atmospheric pressure varies depending on where we are measuring ,. 1,013 bar / 14.7 psi pressure is obtained if measurements are made at 0 meters above sea level.

Absolute pressure = technical pressure + atmospheric pressure

A standard Pressure Gauge for the cooling system in addition to the pressure scale, there is also a temperature scale. That is the relationship between pressure and temperature.

In general we know that the boiling point of water is 100 ° C. But actually water can also boil at 25 ° C or at other temperature points eg 45 ° C.

So the boiling point of water that is 100 ° C is when the pressure acting on water is 1 atmosphere. If we make the pressure into 2 atmospheres for example, then the water will start to boil at a higher temperature, which is 120 ° C. Vice versa if the pressure acting on the water is below 1 atmosphere, the boiling point of water will be below 100 ° C.

So the boiling point of a substance will be influenced by the amount of pressure acting on that substance.
Water is refrigerant too.

In a cooling system, water is used as secondary refrigerant. Usually used on the Chiller system.

Like refrigerants that are more commonly known as R-22, R134a, R404A or others, water also has a refrigerant code that is R-718.

Pressure gauge as shown above is a standard Pressure Gauge for the cooling system.
In some pressure gauge is often included also a type of liquid that is glycerin which serves to reduce the vibration of the pointer, so that the reading can be more stable.
